2nd April 2017 sermon – Luke 22:39-71 – Agony, Destitution, Betrayal, & Mockery

When Jesus is put on trial before His crucifixion, the charges are based on senseless accusations.  The Jewish rabble makes up the charges, and by doing so breaks its own Law.  When the legal representative of the greatest pagan power on earth, Pontius Pilate, interrogates Jesus, he finds Him innocent about three times!  The false Jewish leader, Herod Antipas, finds much the same.  Yet Jesus is lead for execution, taking the place of a man named   Here is my sermon on these things from Luke 23:1-25 (c.f. Lamentations 2:13-22).
