When a church is pleasing to its pastor, it also pleases its heavenly Father. When Paul shepherded the Thessalonian church, they weren’t just another social gathering, but like a much-loved infant (2:7, 11). In fact, he went so far as to say that if they were not standing firm in the Lord, he didn’t want to live (3:8)! This is the church’s purpose and destiny. The church has largely lost its way in this respect, but as I point out in my sermon, it can get back to what it’s supposed to be in 1 Thessalonians (데살로니가전서) 3:1-10 (c.f. Psalm 16).
