My name’s Haydn Sennitt and I am the author of this blog. I graduated in March 2014 from Bible college with a Bachelor of Theology and have been, since April of 2015, the sole, senior pastor of a Congregational parish in Sydney.
The purpose of this blog is for me to share God’s deep wisdom and His work in my life, in a world so replete with superficiality, brokenness, anger, and sin. I end this introduction to you with this lovely quote from C.S. Lewis’ classic, The Great Divorce: “I am in Love, and out of it I will not go”. Safely sitting in the hands of the holder, I am in Love: in the Love of God’s tender hands and out of it I will not go.
I’ve called this blog ‘Lamenting Joy’ because the Christian life is like that – we are in a world where Christians are marginalised aliens and hated because we bear the name of Christ. As Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:12, everyone who seeks to live a godly life will suffer. And yet because the end of all that suffering is joy and the glory of God, there is so much joy to endure in the next life. My motto in life (which I’ve borrowed from John Piper) is, “God is most glorified in me when I am most satisfied in Him.
